...Art Buchwald, one of DC's treasures for so many years, finally died a nearly a year after he went into hospice. Respect to the guy who actually gets to check out of hospice and write a book about it. I'm linking to this article because it has my favorite picture of him and Audrey Hepburn in Paris in the 50s. I met Art in 2003 - he was friendly with someone I knew - and we all had lunch together several times. He had to be helped to the bathroom but still made sly comments about my legs. Shortly after we met, Vogue published an article and included this photo, so I clipped it and sent it to him. He was as clever and funny in person as in his columns, and elevated dying to a comedic art form (pardon the pun). Heck, here's the photo anyway.

Another Legend Done Gone...
