Quite possibly the cutest, sweetest kids that ever lived

here they are:

So this little guy and I are in Old Navy by the hats while his mom tries on new jeans after a chocolate labrador peed on her (long story). And he's letting me put hats on his head and cover his eyes and pinch his nose through the hat and he's cracking up. And I pick him up because he's so pick-upable and I say to him (don't tell my mom) "you'd better quit it, cute stuff, or you're going to make me want one of you!" And he promptly leans over and bites my boob. I couldn't make this up.

And this little monkey, who every time I called her that would answer "I'm not a monkey, I'm a girl!"

This is her getting a tattoo of a witch, which absolutely had had had to come off in the bath that night. I washed it off her arm and later she asked me if I knew where the witch had gone. Not connecting to what she was talking about, I asked what she meant, and she led me over to the tub to show me where we'd scrubbed her off and pointed at the drain. Precious.

Long Day

I was in North Carolina this weekend, visiting my best friend Shmoopy and her two precious kids in their house by the beach near Camp LeJeune. Although the drive absolutely bites --unlike heading to NY from DC where you can, if you completely flout any sense of responsibility towards your fellow drivers, the accepted laws and norms of about five states, and the worth of your own small life, get there in waaaay under the 4.5 hours everyone says it takes, this drive was loonng. Like nearly 6 hours long. And I didn't bring my ipod charger into the car, but I did bring CDs. Oh, I forgot to finish that long sentence - although the drive was murder, it was completely worth it to see these two scamps and catch up with my friend, who is doing a phenomenal job of raising them and keeping it all together while her husband is in Iraq. Photos to come, but damn, I'm tired.
