R**heads and Fa***** and Blondes, Oh My

so why not weigh in on the lovely, classy Ann Coulter - everyone else with a computer is. Anyone who wants to know exactly what happened at CPAC when Ann dropped the F-bomb on John Edwards can find it in two seconds, so no sense recounting it here. My thought, although probably the grounds on which most people are arguing, is this: writers, political commentators, bloggers, etc become well-known, widely-read, and find their books on the bestseller list because they tell their stories convincingly, animatedly (not even a word - see, that's why I'm not published) and bring insight or help you see something in a way you hadn't seen it. Awfully simplistic, sure, but the most memorable writers and thinkers I can conjure up are the ones who do just that, give you an "a-ha!" moment. Liberal or conservative, I fail to see what imagination at all was used to call Muslims r**heads and call John Edwards a fa**** - ASIDE from being cheap shots and pretty insulting in terms of lowering the "level of political discourse", it's frankly just uncreative and shows no forethought, no imagination whatsoever - some idiot on his couch with a six-pack (of beer, not abs) can say the same thing. There are millions of ways to spoof or even outwardly insult John Edwards or any politician, for that matter - just watch five minutes of the Daily Show or find a rich Churchill quote. Conservatives used to always say Ann Coulter was "fearless" and "provocative" - what's so fearless about calling someone a f**? That you'll use a word most people think is base and rude and frankly, 7th grade-level in terms of humor? What can I get from you, Ann, that I can't get from my 13-year-old cousin who hasn't quite grasped the benefits of deodorant? I tune into blogs, pundits, and the like on both sides of the aisle for a fresh perspective and new insights, not to be talked at by a sophomore at a dance without a date.
